Dear Play,
My name is Dave Cannon, and as part of the summer 2009 internship application I have included a post to be posted to the Play blog at thinkaboutitharder.com. I have also attached a picture, but I understand if it cannot be uploaded. The post is as follows:

My name is David Cannon. I'm a marketing major at University of Richmond and am applying to intern at Play during the summer of 2009. This summer I studied abroad in Hamamatsu, Japan for eight weeks. I lived with a host family, took the bus to school and lived a relatively normal life...for the most part.
I had traveled to other countries before, but being in Japan truly made me feel like I was on the other side of the world. The elevators are eerily quiet, cell phones can do calculus (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit), and the general populace has an inexplicably strong affinity for Disney's Lilo and Stitch. But among all these differences between the U.S. and Japan, I discovered an even greater number of similarities. We laugh at the same things, we both like the movie Entrapment (and let's be honest -- who doesn't love Sean Connery?), and we both still rock out to the Beatles. More than anything, living in Japan made me realize that even 5,000 miles of distance can't change some things about us.
So to those who say they have nothing in common with someone, I say you're probably not looking hard enough. This summer, I'd like to explore what I have in common with the Play team and see what we can create.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting with you.
