What gives you goose bumps?
For me? That’d be commercials… and not just the ones during the Super Bowl. I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted to share, but it came down to a very cool example created to promote Sony’s LCD Television.
Insanity. Done by Fallon, the project took place in Glasgow, Scotland in July of 2006. 70,000 liters of environmentally friendly, brightly colored paint, 622 bottle bombs, and other equipment were strategically placed to create massive firework-like explosions. The paint explodes in sync with the music, which is playful and weightless. Right around 36 seconds is where I get the chills.
I believe the world is in need of goose bumps. I will enter my final semester as a senior at the University of Richmond this fall and will soon face a tumbling job market stressed by negativity and loss of hope. I see the remedy in the goose bump feeling because behind that feeling lies inspiration. In my opinion, the best ideas and decisions come from a mind that feels like it can say anything, anytime, and in anyplace, one that can explode in neon color across the mundane.
My name is Valeria Mykyta and I am an applicant for Play’s 2009 summer internship.
