Week 1 or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Job

"So what exactly do you DO?"

I've been asked this question about 137 times since I found out I'd be interning at Play this summer. Now after week 1, I can answer that question with a bit more confidence than before.

Monday's morning meeting got my summer started off right, covering everything from "the miracle of birth" to Dubai's flourishing business environment. The relaxed, informal approach seems to be much more effective than being talked at in a stuffy board room--people here actually enjoy the morning meeting, making it much more likely that they'll enjoy the rest of the day and thus be more productive.

It was made very clear from the start that Play expects a lot from us, and we should expect a lot from Play in return. And so far, everything has lived up to my expectations. I appreciate the comprehensive two week introduction Play has planned out for us. Rather than having one person be in charge of intern "training," we spend personal time with each and every member of the Play team learning how they do what they do so well.

Play understands human behavior and creates an atmosphere to naturally bring the best out of everyone. The creative process is a fragile one, and the intimate and caring environment at Play ensures that no creative egg goes unhatched.
