Dear Reader:
It should be mandatory for any person that listens to rock and roll to see this movie. Scratch that. Everyone should see this movie.
"Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll"
http://imdb.com/title/tt0092758/
On the eve of Chuck Berry's 60th birthday, Keith Richards organizes a band to back up Chuck at his birthday party. The party takes place at Berry Farm, Chuck's Missouri compound that is reminiscent of a YMCA camp bred with Studio 54. Guests like Etta James, Eric Clapton, and Julian Lennon perform with Chuck. The real beauty of this movie is obviously musical, but the great surprise is a deep look into the life of one of rock and roll's most important fathers. More than just a smoking hot guitar player, Chuck Berry is a savvy business man, a troubadour, and a commanding presence that would put Rasputin to shame. It is a special treat to see him talking to Keith Richards and Eric Clapton like children. The bonus features contain such amazing rehearsal footage that I plan to watch again as soon as I am done writing this email.
You won't find it at the Video Fan tonight. I have their copy and I won't give it back until they hunt me down.
